General
What is DeSpeed?
DeSpeed is the world’s first decentralised network for internet speed verification, powered by real-time blockchain validation. By connecting through a simple protocol, your device measures its internet speed, records its proof on the blockchain, and contributes to a global map of concurrent internet speed.
How does DeSpeed operate?
Since everyone pays for the internet, why not make it work for you? It’s simple: install the DeSpeed validator extension, keep it active as you go about your day, and start earning rewards. The internet speed data your device gathers helps ISPs enhance their services, creating a secure, mutually beneficial internet space for all.
How will my measured internet speed data be used?
Real-time internet speed data measured by DeSpeed across thousands, if not millions, of devices, provides valuable insights for internet service providers. This data enables them to assess their network performance accurately, allowing for timely and efficient improvements to their services.
What is proof-of-speed validation?
Proof-of-speed validation is our proprietary system that ensures the accuracy of speed test results before securely recording them on the blockchain, verified through a Proof-of-Speed NFT. This mechanism effectively blocks fraudulent submissions and fosters authentic user participation.
Validator Setup
How to get started with DeSpeed Validator?
It’s easy: download and install the DeSpeed validator extension, keep it active to measure your internet speed throughout the day, and earn rewards based on the number of speed tests conducted and verified on the blockchain. Even better, you can increase your earnings simply by referring DeSpeed to your friends!
How do I register my account?
Once you've installed the DeSpeed validator extension, open it by clicking on its icon in your Chrome toolbar. Tap "Register," and you'll be guided through a simple sign-up process where you can provide your basic details. Rest assured, your information will remain secure and private.
Points and Rewards
How do I earn DeSpeed Bytes?
You earn Bytes by conducting internet speed tests with the DeSpeed validator. Additionally, you can earn referral Bytes from active users you refer to the DeSpeed Network and receive bonuses for reaching referral milestones.
How does the referral program operate?
The referral program allows you to earn 10% of the total Bytes earned by your active referrals. There are additional bonus rewards for reaching referral milestones. You can read more in our Referrals Program section.
Can higher internet speeds increase your earnings?
No, higher internet speed does not increase earnings. DeSpeed’s role is to conduct and verify users' internet speeds throughout the day, creating a vast, real-time network of global and hyperlocal internet speed data. This allows users worldwide to discover and access better internet connectivity.
Are there any restrictions on using the DeSpeed validator?
Using a VPN while keeping the DeSpeed validator active is strictly prohibited. This policy helps maintain accurate data collection and ensures the integrity of the network. Users found violating this rule will be removed from the Bytes program.
How will I receive my earned rewards?
Your rewards accumulated through DeSpeed based on your activities will accrue as Bytes. These Bytes will be converted into DeSpeed tokens prior to the mainnet launch which you can claim and sell on the open market according to an anticipated claiming and listing schedule.
Privacy
How is my personal information protected?
Your personal information is stored securely and never shared with third parties. The DeSpeed Validator prioritises user privacy and data security.
What data is collected during speed tests?
Our validator extension collects key performance metrics such as download speed, upload speed, ip address and location. This data is used solely for improving the DeSpeed network and enhancing user experience.
