Network Contribution

To start earning rewards with the DeSpeed Bytes Program, simply install the DeSpeed validator extension and register your account. Once set up, the DeSpeed validator will automatically perform 4 internet speed tests at random intervals throughout the day.

Each time you contribute speed test data, your unique IP address and location are securely sent to the DeSpeed network, helping to build the global internet speed map. For every successful test, you’ll earn up to 800 Bytes per day as a network contribution reward.

How Network Contribution Rewards Work

Network contribution rewards are based on three key factors:

  • Your internet speed data from each test.

  • The uniqueness of your IP address.

  • Whether location permission is enabled on your device.

Here’s how the Bytes calculation system works:

  • Base Reward: Every internet speed test provides a base reward of 50 Bytes.

  • Multiplier Boost: Additional reward multipliers are applied depending on your IP address uniqueness and location status.

Explaining the Unique IP Address and Location Status

  • Unique IP Address: A unique IP address serves as a distinct identifier for your device on the internet, enabling DeSpeed to more precisely track and analyze speed test contributions.

  • Location Status: Enabling location permission allows the DeSpeed validator to access geographical data, providing more granular and localized information about the speed test origin.

Network Contribution Reward Scenarios

Case I: Maximum Reward Boost (4x)

  • Location Enabled: Yes

  • Unique IP Address: Yes

When location status is enabled and your IP address is unique, you'll earn the maximum 4x reward boost. This means 200 Bytes for each successful speed test, the highest reward tier for network contributions!

Case II: 2x Reward Boost

  • Location Enabled: No & Unique IP Address: Yes

  • (or) Location Enabled: Yes & Unique IP Address: No

In the case when your location is disabled and your IP is unique or vice versa, you’ll still receive a 2x reward boost, earning 100 Bytes per successful speed test. Although this is a reduced boost compared to the maximum reward, it's still a higher reward than the base value.

Case III: Base Reward (50 Bytes)

  • Location Enabled: No

  • Unique IP Address: No

If both your location is disabled and your IP address is not unique, you will receive only the base reward of 50 Bytes per test, with no reward multiplier.

Case IV: Shared IP Address with Multiple Users

  • Location Disabled: Yes

  • Multiple Users Sharing Same IP Address: Yes

If multiple users contribute internet speed data from the same IP address, only the first user will qualify for the 2x reward boost for having a unique IP address. Subsequent users contributing from the same IP will receive only the base reward of 50 Bytes per test, without any multiplier.

Maximising Your Network Contribution Rewards

To get the most out of your DeSpeed Validator:

  • Enable Location Permission: Allowing location access maximises your reward multiplier.

  • Use a Unique IP Address: This ensures you receive the highest possible reward boost.

  • Keep the Validator Active: The more you contribute, the more you earn! Make sure to keep the DeSpeed validator active and test regularly for maximum rewards.
